An Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) has the responsibility for enacting the company’s emergency response plans and procedures in the event of an emergency occurring. As such it is imperative that ECO members are trained and familiar with their company procedures in order to respond in a timely manner to the arising situation so that they can safeguard other employees as well as the business itself. This course is designed to assist members of an ECO to understand their duties and responsibilities in the event of various emergencies that they may be faced with during the course of employment as a member of workplace ECO.

This course looks at the following:

  • Ability to relate to a range of people from a range of cultural, linguistic, social and ethnic backgrounds, and a range of physical and intellectual abilities.
  • Apply methods of accounting for people.
  • Assist people who need assistance
  • Carry out a search pattern within an area
  • Communicate clearly by the means specified in the workplace emergency procedures
  • Contribute to emergency management planning
  • Exercise leadership within a workplace emergency context
  • Use equipment assigned to assist with implementing the workplace emergency procedures
